ONYX ARMOR LIMITED WARRANTY
ONYX Protective Group Inc. (Onyx Armor) warrants that its “NIJ-06” soft body armor vests have been certified to comply with the National Institute of Justice’s (“NIJ”) Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor, NIJ Standard-0101.06 (July 2008), for the applicable NIJ threat level designated on each Vest’s label.
Body armor designed to protect against handgun threats are not designed to protect against rifle threats. Vests must contain ceramic composites or other ballistic plates if necessary.
National Institute of Justice, “It is essential that those who select body armor and each officer who wears it realize that there is no such thing as a bulletproof vest. The routine use of appropriate soft body armor significantly reduces the likelihood of fatal injury, but 100-percent protection in all circumstances is impossible. Body armor selection is to some extent a trade-off between ballistic protection and wearability. The weight and comfort of soft body armor is inversely proportional to the level of ballistic protection that it provides. All departments should strive to select armor that their officers will wear, consistent with their ballistic protection requirements, and should insure that each officer knows and understands the protection that it affords, as well as its limitations. Body armor that is not worn provides no protection.”
For a period of sixty (60) months after the date of purchase, Onyx Armor warrants that the ballistic panels of its Vests shall be free from defects in material and workmanship. Vests should not be worn or used after the expiration of this warranty period.
For a period of twelve (12) months after the date of purchase, Onyx Armor warrants that the outer carriers of its Vests shall be free from defects in material and workmanship.
Vests shall always be worn in accordance with Onyx Armor’s Use & Care instructions contained in the applicable User Manual included with each Vest. These warranties do not apply to any Vest that has been subjected to misuse, abuse, accident, neglect, unauthorized alteration, breakage, interruption, damage, improper storage, handling or unauthorized repair or service.

- Care should be taken to store your body armor flat on a shelf or other flat surface. When this is not possible, the next best method is to suspend it on a cloth hanger.
- Your body armor should not be bent or stored standing on its own.
- Inadequate storage creates “wrinkles” in your body armor and can cause shrinkage at the edges.
- Your body armor should never be stored in the trunk of any vehicle that is exposed to extremely high temperatures.
- Heat, humidity and moisture can affect the strength of some fibers and may decrease the performance of your body armor.
